Milton Hydro to Deploy Trilliant’s Home Solutions Enabling Demand Management Program

Trilliant Incorporated, the industry’s leading provider of advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) based on open standards, today announced Milton Hydro Distribution Inc., a leader in the successful adoption of AMI solutions, will deploy Trilliant’s Home solutions providing customers with choice of participation in planned Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) programs. Separately, Trilliant and Zensys announced plans to integrate Trilliant’s wireless mesh technology with in-home wireless control offerings available through the many Z-Wave™ Alliance members. The integrated solution will provide Trilliant customers with a broad range of retail options for expanded control of consumer appliances and home functions.

Trilliant is the first AMI supplier to provide an open standards-based platform for AMI-integrated demand response (i.e., load control) incorporating thermostats and other loads such as pool pumps and water heaters. The Trilliant Home solution also supports “in-home” consumer displays that control loads, display meter readings, and provides for utility initiated messages.

“The Trilliant Home offering provides Milton Hydro with a means to not only meet regulatory requirements but to enhance our customers’ experience,” said Don Thome, president and CEO of Milton Hydro Distribution Inc. “This program will provide residential consumers with the information and the means for direct participation in managing our limited energy resources.”

By extending the Trilliant AMI Mesh offering, based on IEEE 802.15.4, through integration with Z-Wave technology enabled products from the Z-Wave Alliance, residential customers who participate in demand response programs will be given access to a broad range of home automation functions available today through major retail stores.

“Integrating Trilliant’s market leading wireless mesh offerings for utilities with those offered through the Z-Wave Alliance for in-home automation is an obvious extension for both parties,” said Mark Walters, vice president of alliances for Zensys. “The value for consumers is choice provided through leading manufacturers and available through major retail outlets.”

“This standards-based utility-to-consumer solution represents the future of AMI,” said Bill Vogel, Founder, Senior Vice President Strategic Development of Trilliant “By combining Trilliant’s Mesh AMI with broadband networks and home networks utilities can significantly improve net return on assets with benefits in energy capacity management, system reliability and consumer satisfaction.”

Trilliant’s Home solutions are available now for utilities considering demand response initiatives. These offerings are an extension of Trilliant’s OpenMesh™ AMI solutions providing cost effective, high performance and highly reliable 2-way wireless communications for utility applications.
