Trilliant Adopts TALQ Smart City protocol

The communication company receives official TALQ Certification

Piscataway, NJ and Raleigh, NC – (November 20, 2019) – The TALQ Consortium has certified Trilliant Smart Cities Platform as TALQ Version 2 compliant. The new Outdoor Device Network (ODN) has demonstrated interoperability by implementing TALQ Version 2. With an increasing market demand for interoperable systems, Trilliant worked to integrate the TALQ Smart City Protocol into their solution.

The Trilliant TALQ software gateway component simplifies smart city device integration for information exchange to best allow Trilliant to support any number of smart city devices and sensors. Utilizing standard protocol interfaces to aggregate street lighting data and other smart city applications, Trilliant’s Smart Cities Platform is meant to deliver cost savings, improved operations, new and enhanced citizens’ services and strategic innovation to cities, globally. Trilliant’s TALQ gateway is a key component in delivery of data and business insights from a broad range of smart sensors and endpoints, thus enabling improved data aggregation and better analytics – all across a fast and secure private network infrastructure.

In 2012, the TALQ Consortium started to develop a global interface standard to connect and manage heterogeneous outdoor lighting systems from different hardware and software vendors. Five years later, in 2017, the Consortium decided to enlarge its scope and address the wider need for interoperability between Smart City Applications and IoT networks. After updating the TALQ Specification to version 2.0, based on a standard RESTful JSON approach in 2018, the TALQ integration into existing Central Management Systems and gateways from Outdoor Device Networks (ODN) became much easier and faster. At the same time, large tenders have started to require more interoperability with TALQ. As a result, more and more vendors are now considering supporting the TALQ Smart City Protocol and presenting their product for TALQ Certification.

TALQ, being an open industry consortium, gives all existing and new member companies access to the detailed TALQ Specification, supports them in integrating it into their own systems, and invites them to participate in the future development and updates of the TALQ protocol.

About Trilliant

Trilliant® empowers the energy and IIOT industry with the only purpose-built communications platform that enables utilities and cities to securely and reliably deploy any application – on one powerful network. With the most field-proven, globally compliant solution in the market, Trilliant empowers you by connecting the world of things®.

About the TALQ Consortium

Founded in 2012, the TALQ Consortium is establishing a globally accepted standard for management software interfaces to control and monitor heterogeneous smart city applications. The TALQ Smart City Protocol is a specification for information exchange, suitable for implementation in various products and systems. This way interoperability between Central Management Software (CMS) and Outdoor Device Networks (ODN) from different vendors will be enabled, such that a single CMS can control different ODNs in different parts of a city or region.
